HEALING STORIES FOR THE GULF,
ITS WILDLIFE AND ITS PEOPLE
Facilitated by Juliet Bruce, Ph.D.
Monday, August 2
7:00-9:00PM
FREE

We all feel helpless and sickened about what's happening in the Gulf. But we're not helpless to create unexpected and amazing change through storytelling. The purpose of this workshop, and others like it, is to activate collective energy to bring restored health to the waters, wildlife, and people of the Gulf.
In this session, you'll:
- learn what a healing story is;
- hear a healing story inspired by Salman Rushdie's novel, "Haroun and the Sea of Stories," which touches upon similar issues to the Gulf disaster;
- and experience both private writing time and collective sharing time (when the transformational magic happens).
This workshop isn't about writing a wishful but inauthentic vision of what you'd like to see happen. It's about finding that place in yourself that intersects with the larger story, and to write whatever your soul sends up from that place. That's how real healing happens, both personally and for society.
Many minds moving with the same intention can create miracles. Think back to the grassroots momentum that put President Obama in the White House -- against all odds. It began with hundreds of tiny "Camp Obamas," where people were asked to tell a better story for our country and for their own lives. The sharing that happened at those storytelling camps galvanized a movement. Together, we can change this awful story too. |
THIS WORKSHOP IS FULL! You can still place your name on the waiting list : )

SOUND BATH
The Healing Pleasure of Drone Instruments
The last Sunday of every month
7:00-8:30PM
$15 Suggested Donation

|
Sound Baths are an opportunity to immerse oneself in sound through the use of different drone instruments including Tibetan bowls, didjeridoo, Indian tambura and shruti box, North Indian bansuri, crystal bowls, tuning forks, voices, to name a few. The goal of the sound bath is to give the "bathers" the experience of being held by sonic vibration while participating in as an active listener and sound maker at times through guided voice work. Each facilitator has a background in sound healing with their respective instruments and each sound bath is unique every month.
Led by Katie Down, a composer, performer and music therapist working in mindfulness and meditation in her music therapy practice. She plays a variety of drone instruments including glass instruments, crystal bowls, gongs, flutes, didjeridoo, harmonium and more. Her training is in music psychotherapy with a transpersonal approach, incorporating meditation, creative visualization, and improvisation.
