"Ophra is a phenomenal teacher, with an intuitive understanding of the body's potentials and limitations. Through her gentle encouragement she's able to get all of us to do things that we thought could never happen. The atmosphere in her studio is very friendly and warm, and I always come out feeling as though I've grown an inch." R.R. |
| |
"I can't begin to express what a difference this studio has made in my life. My posture has taken a complete 180, my back & neck pain diminished, I'm stronger & more toned... the best prices & the best classes I've ever encountered!" M.F. |
|
"I've done a lot of yoga and pilates, but never have I had such a clear understanding of what my body should be doing as in Ophra's classes. Expect a peaceful studio with sun streaming in the windows, but a real work-out. Force and Flow has already become well-known in the neighborhood, but I would travel much further distances for a class here. Ophra is a great communicator. You will leave feeling tingly with hard work, serene inside." M.H. |
| |
"I learned more about my body from one hour with Ophra than I have doing years of group yoga classes. Her Thai bodywork helped me more than any acupuncture or masssage sessions I've ever paid for." E.P. |
| |
"I take the pilates classes with Ophra every week. First of all, she's a great instructor and since her classes are small, everyone gets a lot of attention. She's really in tune to everyone's bodies, so she helps you focus on your weaknesses. She also talks you through all the movements and you end up learning a lot about yourself. Everyone that comes to the studio is really friendly and not pretentious at all. You can tell she has very loyal students. I'm really happy with Force & Flow and recommend it to anyone looking to strengthen all those little (but important) muscles/ ligaments/ tendons that don't normally get any attention in a typical gym. Go! It's great for your body and great for your mind and it's very affordable!" M.N. |
| |
"I had a yoga session with Ophra, the positive effects of which I felt for days. The studio has a warm, open and nurturing vibe and is a great addition to Brooklyn's meditative and healing spaces." K.K. |
|
I had never done Pilates before going to Ophra's classes and they were a terrific introduction to this form of exercise. The classes at Force and Flow are a fantastic value. They're small, which allows a very personal approach, and the atmosphere is non-judgmental and welcoming. Ophra is very knowledgeable about the body and how it works and I feel I have learned a tremendous amount in a short while. Plus, my body felt more toned and comfortable after the very first class. I can't say enough good things about how glad I am to have discovered this studio, which feels like an oasis in the concrete jungle! K.D. |
| |
"I have taken Pilates classes before and can truly say that Ophra is the best instructor I have ever had. The classes are small so Ophra is able to give feedback to each student. She is able to help me figure out how to focus my energy to get the maximum out of the workout. It is great to have Force & Flow in our neighbourhood; it is a real Brooklyn Gem!" D.M. |
|
"After missing Ophra's Pilates class, due to a hectic life, my body craves it. I feel stronger; I move with more ease and I feel taller after a class at Force and Flow." B.A. |
| |
"After my son was born I was frustrated that I couldn't seem to return to the strength I once had in my abdomen and lower back. A friend who had taken several different pilates classes recommended Ophra as the best teacher I'd ever find. She was right! Through her clear and thoughtful instruction, Ophra conveys her deep knowledge of pilates. Her classes are challenging but energizing, and the one-on-one support and guidance she provides are immeasurable. I leave her classes feeling an inch taller (in mind and body!) and I'm developing strength in muscles I never knew I had." K.C. |
| |
"I feel GREAT after every Pilates class with Ophra. I feel it in my posture, I feel it in my breath, I feel it in my attitude, and I feel it in those muscles! Ophra focuses on breath and form before and during each exercise and she gives everyone in each class individual attention. I can’t wait to see how I feel after a few more months of classes. I’m a huge fan!" L.W. |
|
"I've had the pleasure of receiving both Thai Bodywork and Pilates sessions from Ophra. I love the energy of her studio. Ophra is a very strong, sensitive, intuitive, and gifted teacher. I'm able to relax completely because I trust that she is present and aware of what my body can do and what it needs to be stronger." D.H. |

ABOUT GROUP CLASSES
|
WHAT ARE GROUP CLASSES ALL ABOUT? |
Group Pilates and Yoga classes are an affordable and practical way to give your body the regular attention it needs! These classes are about finding a RELAXED and EFFECTIVE way to work out and get the most pleasure and benefit out of your time and effort. You'll walk away feeling great, and the benefits will carry over into all aspects of your life. ( TOP) |
WHAT MAKES OPHRA'S CLASSES SO SPECIAL? |
To begin with, LOT'S of personal attention! Classes are limited to 5 so that I have time to work with every individual, giving corrections and tips to help each person reach their maximum potential. I take time to explain the mechanics and intention of each exercise so that instead of just pumping we are always working consciously. Rather than "work you out," I am giving you an opportunity to learn how your body works! You will walk away with tools and techniques to help you continue to strengthen and lengthen throughout the day. The approach is relaxed and holistic, focusing on getting stronger and longer while RELEASING tension, rather than adding to the immense strain our bodies already experience in this hectic city. ( TOP)
|
WHO ARE THESE CLASSES FOR? |
*People who love to learn, are commited not only to looking good but FEELING good, and who want to work out in a relaxed, intimate environment without a lot of attitude or pressure. ( TOP)
|
|
If you want to see and FEEL results (and you will!) coming at least once a week is essential. Classes are small, the vibe is intimate and relaxed and I make my sessions especially affordable so that you can ENJOY taking care of your body. In fact, enjoying the work is the most important aspect, because if you take pleasure in working with your body you will use it more and take better care of it from day to day. The key is to be patient and easy on yourself, and to replace judgement with observation. From week to week we build a strong foundation and work towards achieving increasingly challenging exercises with ease and grace, creating strength and length in the body without unnecessary tension. ABOUT 5-WEEK SESSIONS
WINTER SESSION II RUNS 2/23 - 3/27 |
WHAT ARE 5-WEEK SESSIONS?
Classes at Force and Flow are organized into 5-Week sessions. During the course of a session we develop and follow certain themes, so that your body and mind can assimilate the information and progress from week to week. When you sign up for a 5-week session, you commit to coming once a week.
WHY SIGN UP FOR A SESSION?
1. COMMITMENT: sessions are the best way to commit to taking care of your body on a weekly basis.
2. RESULTS: following the development of a theme from week to week is the best way to own the work you do and to see tangible and long-lasting shifts in your body.
3.
ECONOMICS: classes at Force and Flow are already a great deal, but if you sign up for a session and want to come more than once a week, additional classes during the session are only $10!
DO I HAVE TO COME TO THE SAME CLASS EVERY WEEK?
Not necessarily. When you sign up for a session, you indicate your prefered time and your spot in that class will be saved unless you cancel within 24 hours. If you are not able to make it on your prefered day and time, simply call or email to cancel and then reserve your spot in a different class anytime during the session. (TOP) |
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ'S)
|
1. Do I need to be in good shape to come to class? No, but you should be in good general health, and a doctor's approval is recommended, especially if you are suffering from any kind of chronic condition that affects your health.
2. I've never done any Pilates or Yoga, can I still come to class? Of course, but it is highly recommended that you come to the Foundations class.
3. I have a chronic injury and/or am just out of surgery, can I still come to class? It depends on what the injury is, but for many issues these classes are extremely beneficial. If you are in any doubt, I would recommend emailing or calling me, as well as consulting with your doctor.
4. I can't come on the same day every week, can I still sign up for a session? Yes, see the section about sessions above. I recommend doing at least 5 consecutive weekly classes before opting to drop-in. ( TOP) |
